Introduction to Seoul, South Korea
Love it or hate it, South Korea's capital, Seoul, is the undisputed centre of attention in this insular country.

For those who don't suffer from an acute fear of crowds, the city can be a real buzz.

From the time it wakes up until the wee hours, Seoul works hard and plays hard.

The country's largest traditional street market, Namdaemun, is certainly worth some time, as is Dongdaemun Market, the quirky goods counterpart to the food market.

The beautiful people window shop along Myeongdong or drop mad cash in the boutiques of Apgujeong.

The ancient palace complexes like Gyeongbok and Changdeok are the best bang for the buck and really show the architectural and artistic beauty the ancient Koreans once mastered.

There are also mountain hiking trails right in the city and some great public parks like Namsan and Youngsan that offer welcome relief from the concrete and traffic.

Seoul hotels can be found in every corner of the city, with the best tourist selection in Gangnam, on the south side for the city from the historic core.
