Introduction to Gwangju, South Korea

Hotels in Dong-gu provide superb access to the many attractions of Daejeon, South Korea's fifth-biggest city. Located close to one of the three tributaries feeding the Geum River, Dong-gu is near several key motorways. Fans of history will enjoy spending time at the Hanbat Museum of Education. Woosong Art Center is a popular venue for performances of music and other cultural events. The well-liked Expo Park science centre is only a few miles to the north, on the other side of the river. Korea's National Science Museum is next to the park. Mount Sikjang, which looms over the city, is only a few miles to the south. Getting to the base of the mountain takes about 30 minutes but expect a good hike to enjoy the great views from the top. The vast and beautiful Daecheongho Lake is a few miles to the east. Getting around the city is made easy thanks to the many city buses and the subway line. High-speed KTX rail services take just 50 minutes to reach Seoul. The station is just a few minutes's drive to the south. The local airport is just to the north and offers a limited range of flights.
