Introduction to Gumi, South Korea
Gumi is the second-largest city in Gyeongsangbuk-do in South Korea and is linked to other parts of the country by expressway and rail. It is located on the Nakdong River and developed rapidly from a small rural town following the establishment of a number of factories, including those of Samsung and LG. A large number of taxis and city buses make getting around pretty easy. The town's Botanical Garden, which is situated at the bottom of Geumo Mountain, is worth visiting, but the principal draw here is the nearby Geumosan National Park in which the mountain of 976 metres is situated. The park contains a number of interesting sites such as Doesan Cave, Daehye Waterfall and the Hae un Buddhist temple; all are reachable by cable car from the park entrance. For more active tourists, a number of other temples can be visited here by taking hikes of between one and two hours. The majority of Gumi hotels lie in the city centre and the prices overnight can fit any budget. Of course, like any other Korean centre, Gumi sells gingseng and in a little market close to the south bus terminal you can find a tremendous amount to choose from.other spellings: gumihotels, gumi otel, hotellin gume, gumi hote, gomi hotle, kumi
