Introduction to Daegu - Buk-gu
Daegu's Buk-gu is a pleasant little South Korean town with a rich cultural history. Tourists who visit this community just north of the city will be impressed by the amount of ancient Korean artefacts on display at the Gyeongbuk University Museum, while in the grounds of the university are two large stone Buddhist stupas. There is also an ancient fortress wall, situated on top of Palgeo Mountain, a short distance outside of Buk-gu, which is worth visiting. The Confucian temple is another place of interest. It includes a number of restored buildings as well as a Confucian school. The area is well known for its scenic parks, with three of them offering places for visitors to relax or bike along trails which run along the river which passes through the town. There is also a small theme park called Dualsaem Park. Buk-gu hotels are comfortable and some have large communal saunas attached to them. Trains and buses connect Daegu with Seoul in around 4 hours, while a small city airport offers mostly domestic services.
