Introduction to Chungju, South Korea
Chungju, a busy town in the South Korean province of North Chungcheong, is both a beautiful destination and a popular transport hub. One of the biggest tourist attractions is the huge dam which created Chungju Lake - the biggest in the country and itself a big draw for visitors. In October every year, large numbers of people visit the town from across the country and around the world for its martial arts festival. Hotels in Chungju offer excellent access to a pair of popular hot springs resorts - Angseong-oncheon, about 30 minutes north on Highway 45, and Suanbo, a town to the south. Both can be reached using local buses from the bus terminal, easily reached in the northern end of town. The town is great for holidays in winter, too, especially for skiers, who can enjoy downhill action in the local mountains as well as hot dips in the springs at Suanbo. Mungyeong-Saejae, about 30kms to the south, is home to a stunning national park. The closest international airport is a few hours away at Incheon.other spellings: chungjuhotels, chungju otel, changju hotell, changju hote, changju hores
