Eating Out

Eating Out and Dining Guide to Johannesburg
In particular, the Melrose Arch area is home to some of the city’s finest restaurants – and nightclubs as well. The Moyo is a slick, trendy African-themed restaurant here that’s quite popular.
The artistic and trendy suburb of Melville is another area where you’ll find a choice selection of places to eat. It’s located near the SABC headquarters (the national broadcasting company). One highly-recommended choice here is the restaurant called Mezzaluna, which serves up fresh and simple but elegant Mediterranean-style fare.
Local cuisine

South Africans enjoy a barbeque, which they call a braai, and they have a traditional African approach to preparing food in this way. Just about anything can be cooked on a braai, though you’ll most often find that meat is the feature – such as chicken, lamb or steak.
The braai is a long-standing tradition with its roots in the country’s rural roots, but also a result of its great weather and the enjoyment of a laid-back lifestyle.
