There are well-defined seasons, partly attributable to winds blowing in off the Atlantic during the winter and from a south-easterly direction in the summer. Overall, the city experiences some of the finest weather in the world, and there really isn’t a bad time of year to visit.
The summer months are from November to March, and are the most popular time to visit. Days are long, sunny and dry, with temperatures staying at around 25°C. The winters aren’t so bad, either.
Most people who live here will tell you that the springtime – from September to October – is the perfect time to be in Cape Town: winter rains have disappeared, the days are starting to get longer and the temperature rises to a very pleasant and refreshing 20°C. Flowers are in bloom everywhere, creating blazing displays of colour. Autumn is also a lovely time to visit, as from April to May there are long periods of cool and sunny days.
