Protea Hotel Breakwater Lodge - Cape Town

Once a former prison housing inmates working on the then new V&A Waterfront, Breakwater Lodge is now a hotel and university college. There is 24 hour free secure parking, a business centre and good conference facilities.

These are good basic 3* rooms all with en suite bathrooms, TV and telephone.

There are two restaurants. A self service restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks all day and a more formal restaurant which is long and narrow and has spectacular views of Table Mountain as well as the Waterfront. A la carte food can be ordered here and there is a good wine menu.

A small lobby with a reception desk to your right as you enter and a small seating rea for guests.

Despite once being a prison this is a very attractive building and resembles a castle more than a prison. Painted white, two storeys tall and with a large central courtyard this is a pleasant looking hotel.
