Introduction to Port Elizabeth - Addo Elephant National Park
Approximately 120,000 people visit Addo Elephant National Park, one of 20 in South Africa, each year. This park situated in the middle of southern South Africa, 75 kms north of the city of Port Elizabeth. It was first established in 1931 as a sanctuary for the only-11 elephants left in the region. Today, not only does the number of elephants in the park exceed 450, more than 400 Cape buffalo and 48 rare black rhino roam here too. Most guests at Addo Elephant National Park hotels come from Germany, the United Kingdom, or the Netherlands. The animal species are the park's main attractions, and Addo Elephant National Park is said to be among the world's few places where elephants, leopards, lions, buffalo, rhinoceros, great white sharks and whales can all be seen in natural habitats. The Woody Cape Nature Reserve, which contains the world's two biggest African penguin breeding colonies, is also part of the park.other spellings: addo elephant national parkhotels, addo elephant otel, hotell ado elephant national park
