Introduction to Plettenberg Bay - Beach
South Africa's Eastern and Western capes connect near the hillside beach community of Plettenberg Bay. A bronze statue of frolicking dolphins welcomes visitors to this seaside town. The Gonzales Wreck is the largest of the remnants from the community's first European explorers, who arrived in the 15th and 16th centuries from Portugal. Most Plettenberg Bay Beach hotels are situated steps from the pristine 20km long coastline. Central Beach is not only the busiest of this community's numerous beaches, but the starting point for most local dive charters, marine safaris and ocean kayaking tours. The longer and quieter Robberg Beach, which stretches between Beacon Island and the Robberg Peninsula, is the most beautiful place for long, romantic beachfront walks. The waves can extend more than 19kms at the wilder Keurbooms Beach, where surfers can enjoy some of South Africa's most spectacular waves. Stingrays, sharks, whales and dolphins are among the largest of the sea creatures swimming in the area's protected waters.other spellings: plettenberg bayhotels, pletenbeg bay otel, pletenberg bay hotell, platenbeg bey hotle
