Introduction to Mpumalanga Kruger - Kruger National Park
Kruger National Park in northeastern South Africa is one of the country's and the world's biggest game reserves. At its broadest points, it is 360kms long and 70kms wide. It is home to numerous 'big five' game beasts as well as rare species such as the African wild dog, thousands of reptiles and flora that includes red bush willow. Due to its immense size and popularity for safaris, the game reserve has around 20 different areas given over to Kruger National Park hotels, game lodges and camp areas. Wildlife enthusiasts and hikers heading here for their holidays will find the varied choice of accommodation to suit all tastes between rustic and luxurious. The southern side of the park is contained within the savannah in Mpumalanga Province. In this area, there are also Afromontane forests and in the distance, the Lebombo Mountains. The camps in this part of the park are close to designated hiking trails, but many visitors simply stick to bush drives.
