Introduction to Cape Town - Green Point
Cape Town's Green Point is located towards the western coastline in the city centre district, set on the Atlantic seaboard northwest of the business district. Somerset Road is its main street, with its nightclubs, restaurants, boutiques and cafes providing for its young professional residents and its gay and lesbian community. A cluster of Green Point hotels is found lining the cliff tops above the Victoria and Albert Waterfront and offering great views across the ocean as well as mostly upscale accommodation. The waterfront area is a major tourist destination, within walking distance of Green Point and is crowded with restaurants, bars and cafes as well as boutiques and craft shops. Many of Cape Town's magnificent beaches and their water sports opportunities are close by and the city's adjacent business district hold a large number of traditional Cape Dutch buildings, combining architectural styles from Indonesia, the Netherlands, France and Germany. For local natural beauty, the Cape Town Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden has natural forest as well as a wide range of species.Visit our Cape Town Travel Guide
