Introduction to Bloemfontein - Brandwag

The former South African farming community of Brandwag is now a residential suburb. Dairy cows and horses can still occasionally be seen among this suburb's modern homes. Most Brandwag hotels are located near one of the community's main streets, Nelson Mandela Drive, which quickly transports visitors to many popular attractions in this 'City of Roses.' One of the city's most modern and largest shopping centres, Panarottis Mimosa Mall, lies immediately east of this suburb which is situated northwest of central Bloemfontein, the country's judicial capital. Scenic Loch Logan and its innovative waterfront, filled with restaurants, shops, pubs and entertainment opportunities, are also nearby. The impressive Free State stadium, also known as Vodacom Park, hosts several rugby matches each year and was recently one of the 2010 FIFA World Cup venues. Although Brandwag is just one of many sprawling suburbs in South Africa's sixth-most populated city, the city centre itself is compact and safe for walking.
