Introduction to Piran - Portoroz
Piran is a major port city on the Slovenian coast and is also one of the country’s most popular tourist areas. It lies a short distance to the north of the Croatian border, and is also home to the popular Portoroz town, which is famous for being the biggest resort in Slovenia. Piran hotels here mostly line the seafront. Restaurants in the area serve Slovenian and international dishes, while bars keep things lively after dark. The beaches at the resort are the main attraction for visitors, with rampant development meaning there isn't much traditional charm of the country’s older towns left here. There are a handful of casinos in which to try your luck. Entry to the resort is usually via its compact international airport.
