Most of these are found along the waterfront, stretching from Marina Bay, past Boat Quay to the lively Clarke Quay. Typically, they are outdoor areas where the ex-pat bankers let their hair down after lucrative days at the office. The atmosphere is relaxing, but the drinks prices sometimes raise an eyebrow. Orchard road is the popular ex-pat hub, and there are plenty more venues here to eat and drink at, scattered conveniently among or inside the malls. Holland Village is particularly popular with wealthy ex-pats. Many of the trendiest discos are located here too, noted for their steep cover charges and expensive drinks as well as sharp dress codes. To find the more down-to-earth places, you’ll need to hang out with the locals. | |
