Introduction to Mahe Island - Beau Vallon
The Bay of Beau Vallon is a picturesque location on the north side of Mahe Island, one of the islands that make up the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. The bay boasts clear waters that draw divers, snorkellers and swimmers from afar. The three kilometres of golden sands along the bay offer magical sunset views and are perfect for relaxation or leisurely strolls and beachcombing. There are lots of Beau Vallon hotels and guest houses in the tree-shaded precinct behind the beach. Within walking distance are ATMs and shops which sell beachwear, books, snacks and unique Seychellois souvenirs. Restaurants here serve up fine seafood dishes as well as Creole and Indian cuisine and pizzas. Vendors at a twice weekly bazaar, held throughout the year, offer artefacts, antiques and local delicacies.
