Introduction to Mahe Island - Airport
The Seychelles island of Mahe is served by the Seychelles International Airport, located close to the capital city of Victoria. Known locally as Aeroporte de la Pointe Larue due to its location, it's set just 11kms south of the capital along the Victoria-Providence Highway. The facility has two terminals, one for domestic inter-island flights and the other, a short distance away, for international flights. Also using the runway is a base of the Seychelles Public defence Force, set on an island joined to Mahe by a concourse. International flights arrive from Johannesburg, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Singapore and Mauritius with Air Seychelles, with flights from Frankfurt, Dubai, Addis Ababa, Abu Dhabi, Nairobi and Dohar via other carriers. Onward transportation across the island is by local bus, taxi, hire car or tour operator coaches.
