Activities in Glasgow
Park: Glasgow reputedly has more parks and open spaces than any other city in Britain. The Botanic Gardens is known internationally for its extensive tropical and temperate plant collections and impressive glass houses. Located in the West End of the city, the parks cover an area half an acre, and are the ideal place to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
Kibble Palace is one of the largest glasshouses in the UK and features an extensive collection of tree ferns from Australia and New Zealand and plants from Africa, the Americas and the Far East. There are 11 other linked glasshouses with a variety of plants, cacti and orchids.
Shopping: the huge choice of shopping malls and upmarket stores means that Glasgow is a shopper’s paradise. It is now recognised as being the second best shopping area after London. The main district to head to is known as the ‘Golden Z’, and comprises of Argyle, Buchanan and Sauchiehall streets.
Retail space is outrageously expensive, so don't expect too many bargains in this area. All of the big names are represented, as well as smaller boutique and specialist stores. The most upmarket shopping mall is Princes Square on Buchanan street.
