Eating Out

Eating Out and Dining Guide to Edinburgh
The favourite drink tends to be whisky and a number of local beers feature as well. You’ll find the best selection of eateries in the New Town and the Old Town and also other areas such as Broughton, Leith, Newhaven and Stockbridge.
Local cuisine

A strong emphasis is placed on traditional style, which in Edinburgh typically means a Scottish-French style dating back to the 13th century, arising from what was known as the ‘Auld Alliance’ (against the English).
As in the Scottish-French style, dishes typical of this cuisine are also created with Scottish produce with an Asian, French or Mediterranean flair. Don’t be misled by the new dishes on offer; the traditional dishes are still enjoyed by local residents, regularly.
