Introduction to Thurso, Scotland
The town of Thurso is located in the Scottish Highlands in the far north. It is Britain’s most northerly town and the gateway to the Orkney Islands. Regular ferries depart from Thurso to the islands. For visitors planning to spend some time in the area, there are plenty of hotels in Thurso to choose from. Thurso has some great surfing beaches along the Caithness coast and many Thurso hotels cater for surfers. Thurso is the principal town in the region and has been a port since the time of the Vikings.
