Introduction to Isle of Lewis, Scotland
Isle of Lewis, or Lewis, is the north half of Lewis and Harris Island. The island is the largest one in the Outer Hebrides group off the northwest coast of Scotland. The Isle of Lewis only has one town, Stornoway and most of the Isle of Lewis hotels are in Stornoway close to the passenger ferry terminal. The terminal has daily arrivals from Ullapool on the mainland. Additional Isle of Lewis hotels are dotted around the island’s rugged coastline and these Isle of Lewis hotels provide the perfect base for exploring the island’s myriad attractions. Lewis Castle is a stately Victorian mansion close to Stornoway. In the more remote parts of the island golden eagles and red deer can often be spotted and orchids thrive in the low-lying coastal areas of the island. Dun Carloway Broch is one of several Iron Age stone structures on Lewis and Harris and there are a number of unspoilt sandy beaches around the island.other spellings: hotelsin isle of lewis, isles of lewis otel, hote in lewis, isleoflewis hotell, isl of lewis
