Introduction to Inverness - Beauly
Right in the heart of Scotland, just west of the city of Inverness, Beauly is a small town with beautiful scenery and a selection of historic sites close to Beauly Firth, which eventually empties out into the North Sea. Beauly Priory is the main historic attraction here, a former abbey that experts believe was built as long ago as 1230. Although the roof and much of the structure is today missing and replaced with well-manicured lawns, most of the stone walls can still be viewed, making it a major tourism draw. Just outside the town, renovated Beaufort Castle is in much better shape in it idyllic forest setting, although the 13th century structure is privately owned and therefore off-limits. Hiking in the surrounding area close to Beauly Firth offers some excellent walks. Beauly hotels are mainly conveniently located on, or very close to, the A862 near the town's railway station.other spellings: beaulyhotels, beauly otel, baeuly hotell, bealy hote, beauly hoes
