Introduction to Fort William - City Centre
Visitors to Scotland’s Highlands will enjoy a stop at Fort William. This climbers' hub sits at the base of Ben Nevis, alongside scenic Loch Linnhe. The city centre offers splendid views of the loch and Scotland’s highest peak. The High Street is where the biggest concentration of shops, eateries and pubs can be found, along with a charming choice of hotels in Fort William. The town sees a healthy dose of visitors year round, even in the cold winter months when skiing is possible on the nearby Nevis Range. Summer sees hikers and mountain bikers converge on the town as well as tourists touring Scotland’s famous whiskey trail. Scaling Britain’s highest peak may be on the agenda of some visitors, but there are a number of less demanding challenges for beginners, such as the Great Glen Way, which connects the city with Inverness. A popular excursion is taking a trip on the stream railway that runs from the city to Mallaig from mid-June to early October.other spellings: fortwilliamhotels city, fort wiliam cityotel, hotell in fort wiliam, hote in fortwiliem center
