The Palace of Holyroodhouse situated at the east end of the Royal Mile, the palace has been in Edinburgh’s royal quarter since it was built. In 1128 an abbey was founded by David I on this site. Most of the building standing today dates from the time of Charles II, who ordered that the palace be built.
