Introduction to Dunkeld, Scotland
Dunkeld is on the A9 motorway between Perth and the Scottish Highlands. It is approximately 15 miles north of Perth and 40 miles north of Edinburgh. Most of Dunkeld’s architecture dates from the 18th century. Dunkeld’s Brae Street is the old town’s main thoroughfare and several of the Dunkeld hotels options are housed in historic structures along Brae Street. The street is parallel to the River Tay and at its western leads to Dunkeld's majestic mediaeval cathedral. The Cross, just before the cathedral, is Dunkeld's old market square and contains an ornate neo-Gothic fountain. The Cross has some shops and eateries which can be comfortably reached from the hotels in Dunkeld. Dunkeld is ringed by rolling hills and forests which contain hiking paths. Dunkeld hotels are a good base for daytrips. Birnam Hill and Newtyle Hill can be hiked up from Dunkeld and offer fine views. The Loch of the Lowes Nature Park features abundant wildlife.other spellings: dunkeldhotels, dunkel otel, hote dukeld, dunkled hotell, hotesin dunkell, dunkele
