Dining out: with few other vices to indulge, food has become a number one hobby for many a Riyadh resident; so too for the international tourists that come here.
The local South Asian cuisine is some of the best you’ll find this side of New Delhi; while there are numerous other choices besides particularly Indian and Chinese along with a recent crop of Japanese restaurants to try out. A handful of the top restaurants operate out of high-rise buildings for those excellent views of the city.
Horseback riding: the Saudis are keen stable hands that have produced numerous winners in the world of horse-racing over the years. You can get in the saddle during your stay in Riyadh by heading to one of the public stables such as Nadee Alaghar Riding Academy close to the Diplomatic Quarter.
You won’t see men and women riding together as the schedule is split to cater for both sexes. Women are able to ride any horse they may wish to choose for a spot of jumping or just galloping around the grounds.
Outside of the hotels, the city features some excellent, modern pools to enjoy which are segregated either according to the time or have multiple pools that are used separately by men and women. Either way, the water makes a welcome respite from the Riyadh heat.
