By bus: the government-owned Saudi Arabian Public Transport Company (SAPTCO) is the largest bus network inside the country and is the cheapest way of getting around. Most of the buses are in reasonable condition and the network is usually reliable and efficient.
The trip from Jeddah to Medina takes five or six hours. In order to buy a bus ticket you must have your passport with you. If you are a Saudi resident then you have to show your Resident Permit.
