Jeddah Travel Guide
Fishing: sea fishing excursions can be easily arranged from Jeddah through a number of tour companies. The most common fishing available is by boat out in the Red Sea. A popular spot for fishing close to the city is at Obhir Creek, 50kms to the north. Here you will be able to join a fishing party for a day which will typically include food and soft drinks.
Golf: Jeddah offers a number of green and brown courses; the latter built into the surrounding desert. Popular desert courses close to the city include the Desert Lakes Golf Club which can be a strange experience for players used to grass. The greens are actually not green at all but constructed of compacted sand and players carry a plastic mat around with them from which to make fairway strokes.
Prada, Gucci, Armani – they’re all here and more. When in a traditional market, feel free to haggle but you won’t be able to talk your way into a discount on that Jean-Paul Gaultier number.
Swimming: cooling off in Jeddah should be considered a priority after a hard day’s sightseeing and there is certainly no shortage of places to go for a dip. All of the top hotels feature luxury swimming pools, most of which are outdoors.
