Khamis Mushayt is the largest city in Asir Province of Saudi Arabia. The city's name means Thursday in Arabic and was given to the town for its weekly market that has been held every Thursday since it was first settled. Numerous parks make this lush, green city a fantastic summer getaway. A charming heritage area downtown near Khamis Mushayt hotels celebrates the agricultural treasures of the region, most notably coffee. Traditional villages in the surrounding area provide a great insight to traditional Arabian culture, from the stone houses at Mohayl to the Hanging Village of Al Habalah. Khamis Mushayt is located right outside the province capital of Abha, home to Asir National Park.
