Introduction to Jeddah - Al Sharafiya
The district of Al Sharafiya is one of the most upscale neighbourhoods in the coastal city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Al Sharafiya hotels are usually cheaper than their Riyadh counterparts and situated in the middle of the rapidly growing business district of Saudi Arabia's second most populated city. This district is also located not far from Jeddah's city centre and its world-class shopping, especially along Tahlia Street; the city is filled with air conditioned and modern shopping centres. However, Al Sharafiya is also less than a five-minute walk away from the seaside Corniche, a 30km-long promenade lined with many unusual sculptures and some of Saudi Arabia's finest Red Sea beaches. Another five-minute stroll will bring visitors to the al-Balad old city, where many houses were constructed from coral and surrounded by traditional souqs.
