Saudi Arabia has never been popular for package holidaymakers. If you choose to venture here independently, remember that the laws in this strict Islamic country maybe significantly different to those in your own country. Be cautious if you are taking photographs and don't point your camera at government buildings, mosques, airports or people. All women are required to wear a long and loose black robe, known as an ‘abaya’. Headscarves are not essential but it is a good idea to have one with you. Corporal and capital punishment are common for offences and foreigners are not exempt.
