Introduction to Hafar Al Batin, Saudi Arabia
The name of the city of Hafar Al Batin is also frequently spelled Hafr Al Batin, and this city is situated in the eastern province of Saudi Arabia just 70kms from the country's border with Iraq and 90kms from the small neighbouring nation of Kuwait. A good network of roads connects the city to the outside world and there is an airport, Qaisumah Airport, 10kms away. More than 35 villages are located on the outskirts of the city. All hotels in Hafar Al Batin contain modern facilities, most belong to recognisable chains, and all provide their guests with shelter from the harsh weather of this desert city. Visitors can spend time in the traditional souk, where a range of handicrafts is on display - the woollen carpets are especially interesting.
