Abha, Saudi Arabia has become one of the nation's most popular tourist destinations among locals and foreigners alike, and most visitors choose to come during the summer because the city's high altitude provides a cool refuge from the desert heat which dominates most of Saudi Arabia. The city is the capital of a province called Asir in western Saudi Arabia and is located close to the coast of the Red Sea. Not long ago, most of the homes here were constructed by hand from mud and stone, a far cry from most of the modern places to stay which have recently been built in the city.
