Introduction to Siumu, Samoa
The fire dancers of Siumu are known throughout the region and the activity is the main claim to fame of this small town on Upolu, an island in the Samoan archipelago. When the 2007 Pacific Games were held in Samoa, fire dancers from the town performed in the opening ceremony in Apia. There are not too many Siumu hotels since this really is a small town. However, tourists come here to enjoy quiet spaces and wonderful Pacific Ocean views and most accommodations will go out of their way to welcome tourists and show them the town's attractions. Fire dancing displays are very common and indeed, many properties will feature displays of the local dance in their open air restaurants or courtyards to the delight of guests and diners. At certain times of the year some tourist places will offer classes and training in the fire dancing techniques that Siumu is so well known for.
