Introduction to Gros Islet - Reduit Beach
The former small fishing village of Gros Islet has become one of the most visited tourist destinations on the island of St Lucia, West Indies. It is actually one of the newest towns in the island, as it was promoted from the status of a village just a few years ago. Just to the north of the downtown area (about a 30-minute walk) and separated from it by the marina is the beautiful Reduit Beach, which attracts most of the tourists to the town. The beach is one of the most popular western coast beaches in St Lucia. Reduit Beach hotels are set up to accommodate tourists staying for at least several days. Every year, the beach is receiving a higher population of tourists, which has seen more hotels develop in the area.
