In the summer season, tennis courts at the city’s popular hotels are a good place to enjoy some sporting activity; while fitness centres at the same venues can be enjoyed at any time of year.
Bath: this ancient spa-style treatment is known locally as banya and is something of a cross between a steam bath and a sauna. Visitors will warm to the experience as much as locals have done so for centuries, enjoying the therapeutic benefits it offers and the chance to reverse the effects of the ravaging the winter weather.
Golf: there are few major developed destinations in the world that don’t have golf amenities of some description and Moscow offers the Moscow City Golf Club, an 18-hole course with clubhouse and dining facilities. While entry is with membership only, visitors may join members as their guests for the day.
Ice-skating: outside of the winter season, when the lake of Gorky Park is not available for skating, the facilities at the Young Pioneers Stadium (Stadion Yunykh Pionerov), to the north of the Tverskaya district, are open daily for those wishing to get a little action on the ice.
