The city is the capital of the Sibiu County in Transylvania, Romania, and is one of the most important spots in the region in terms of history, culture and tourism. There are plenty of options for accommodation here, with everything from hostels and guesthouses to buildings. Many stay in the properties whilst on their ways to central Romania as the city has excellent transport links. In the city's beautiful old town is where you will find most of the higher-end establishments among the striking medieval buildings. You will also find pleasant cobbled streets, churches and cafes in this area, along with a nice array of shops. You will be able to locate most of the historic sites in the Upper Town but the best architecture in the Lower Town. When staying in one of the properties, also be sure to pay a visit to the Citadel of Sibiu, which was built in the Middle Ages and remains impressively well-preserved today.
