Focsani is the main city of the Romanian region of Moldavia. The town has a poulation of just over 100,000 people and is has a pleasant location on the shores of the Milcov River. The local wine is famous all over the country and many visitors leave with a case full of it in the trunk of their rental car. It is a natural resource-rich area with iron and coal mining major industries and centres of local employment. Focsani hotels are relatively few in number but there are enough to cater to the gentle stream of toursits that flow through here annualy. Some estabishments are upmarket but in general they are bland, medium range places that offer colour television, air conditioning and in some cases, dining options on the ground floor. Other properties are located outside the town centre and some of these are campsites that are very popular with young families for their excellent facilities.
