Introduction to Constanta, Romania

Grand Constanta is Romania’s oldest city, dating back to 600 BC. Today, it is home to a number of amazing landmarks and historical structures and is the second largest metropolitan area in Romania. Constanta hotels benefit from the city’s peerless location which places it on the shores of the Black Sea, opposite the Bosphorous. Apparently, Jason landed here carrying the Golden Fleece with his Argonauts in tow and there are all manner of archaelogical ruins and monuments to be explored. In the summer time, open-air cafes, bars and restaurants line the waterfront area and the tinkling lights and warm summer breezes make for a beautiful holiday atmosphere. Hotels in Constanta will be more expenisve down near the water, but those located back in town closer to monuments such as Ovid’s Square of the Mosaics of Rome. Constanta hotels are not all old buildings and there are some bright new youth hostels and student dormitories as well as modern places with wireless internet access.
