Introduction to Constanta - Mamaia

Mamaia is possibly the most beautiful resort in Romania and is certainly the largest. Mamaia lies on a stretch of land about five kilometres from the city of Constanta in Romania. The beach is eight kilometres long and most of the Mamaia hotels back the sand here. This strip of land has the Black Sea on one side and Lake Suitghio on the other. This is the only beach in Europe to have pure white sand and consequently it is very popular with swimmers and sunbathers alike. There are many water sports activities on Lake Suitghio, and it is possible to take a cruise to the island of Ovidiu, which can be found nearby. The resort of Mamaia has a telegondola, which is a cable car that rises to 50 metres, providing excellent views over Mamaia and allowing visitors to comfortably travel from one end of the resort to the other. The best time to visit Mamaia is between May and September, when the water is warm and the weather hot.
