Introduction to Constanta - Beach
Constanta, one of the most important cities in Romania, dates back to 600 BC. Found along the coast of the Black Sea, it makes for a fantastic summer destination. This popular tourist resort comes to life in the summer months, when the beaches fill with sunbathers and beach strollers. The most central beach is Modern, but many visitors prefer Mamaia, to the north. At night, the clubs and bars can be seen in full swing. Constanta Beach hotels tend to fill up quick in the warm months, so it is best to make a booking before arrival. Constanta is not a large city so it is easy to walk around and visit all of its fantastic sites. Some of the most visited landmarks in the city are the Old Casino (Cazinoul), the Statue of Ovid and the Genoese Lighthouse (Farul Genovez). The 18th century St Peter and St Paul Cathedral and the Great Mahmudiye Mosque are well worth visiting.
