Introduction to Bistrita, Romania
Bistrita is the capital of Bistrita-Nasaud, a region in Transylvania in Romania and it is home to about 80 thousand permanent residents. Tourists come to Bistrita mainly for the natural attractions. Bistrita hotels are located in handy proximity to the Acalia Dendrological Park, Colibita Lake which is an artificial dam, and Lala Mare and Lala Mic which are a twin pair of glacial lakes. Other hotels are low rise outfits and there are even plenty of excellent campsites and campgrounds in the many nature reserves in the area which include the Saratel Sal Mount, Tausoare Cave, and the Rodna Mountains National Park. These properties include the resorts that are located in the many resort towns that surround the area, such as Colibita, Valea Vinului, Sangeroz-Bai and Piatra Fantanele. The wines of the area are top notch and some ad-hoc wine tasting tours are run out of several local places.
