Visa Information for Puerto Rico
For non-US citizens, the immigration procedures are the same as when entering the US. European visitors will need to have the latest electronic passport, which can be identified with a circle in a rectangle logo on the cover of the passport. Many countries now have visa waivers, however, make sure to contact a US embassy in your country or www.uscis.gov (US Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services) to get up-to-date US immigration information as visa-waivers. It is not possible to work in Puerto Rico with a tourist visa or non-immigrant visa.
Customs is as strict as when entering the US. Customs in Puerto Rico is inspected by the US Department of Agriculture and it is prohibited to carry fruits and plants. Illegal items will be confiscated on the spot and, in some cases, visitors may be fined.
