There is petty theft on beaches, which can easily be avoided by watching your possessions and not carrying valuables or too much money. There is very little seasonal variation in the weather in Puerto Rico and visitors seek out the island throughout the year. Temperatures hover around 26°C (80°F) throughout the year, with cooler weather up in the mountains. June to November is the hurricane season and there are rain showers at least once a day during this time of year. Summer months, July through August, are the peak months, especially for Caribbean cruises, which tend to island-hop or stop in San Juan.
