Introduction to Rio Grande - Beach
The resort town of Rio Grande is sandwiched between the northeast Atlantic shore of Puerto Rico and the fabulous El Yunque National Forest. The latter boasts lofty, mist-covered mountain peaks and virgin rainforest. The secluded bays on the coast are home to an excellent choice of Rio Grande Beach hotels. Coco and Las Picuas beaches feature accommodation managed by leading hotelier groups. There are also several casinos and a fine selection of restaurants where international specialities and seafood are served. The clear seas here are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Tour operators run diving and deep-sea fishing trips. Backing the beaches are a number of golf courses including Trump International, which hosts the PGA Puerto Rico Open every March. Other annual events include the Saints Festival. This colourful, popular July fiesta has parades, dancing and traditional gastronomy.
