Cycling: riding a bicycle in the city is not always convenient given the lack of cycle lanes and the hills, but a great way to see the surrounding area would be to cycle out. This can be done by taking a train or a boat out and then riding back. Shops that rent bikes are not all that common but can be found. In Baixa, look out for Bikeiberia, a specialist that hires out equipment and suggest tour routes.
Walking: with its pleasant scenery and good weather, Lisbon and its environs are great for exploring on foot, if of course you don’t mind the often strong sun and hilly terrain. Take a walking tour around areas like Belem that take in the sites or instead follow the river. For longer walks, catch a ferry down the river and walk back into town.
Swimming: given its convenient location by the sea, it is perhaps unsurprising that Lisbon offers great opportunities for swimming and bathing. Most of the best beaches near the city are northeast in and beside Praia das Macas which can be reached in a less than one hour from the city. Guincho is another great beach nearby that offers good surfing.
