By air: Faro Airport is the major gateway to the Algarve and it is well located for most of the major resorts. Faro has flights to and from destinations all over Europe with the UK, Germany, Holland and Italy the most popular. During the high season, there are more than 10 flights a day between the UK and Faro. From the UK you are really spoilt for choice, with 20 different UK airports providing services to Faro.
If you have pre-booked accommodation, and in particular if you are on a package trip then you will almost certainly find shuttle buses to take you to you to your chosen resort. Otherwise you will find taxis and a rather slow bus service.
By bus: Portugal has an excellent domestic coach services linking Faro with towns and cities around the country. From Faro you can link with the local buses or taxis to your chosen hotel or resort.
By boat: those with their own boats or yachts will find marinas at Albufeira and Vilamoura that are appropriate for international yachting, but there are also options for everyone else. There is a ferry service from Spain that links with Vila Real de Santo Antonio in the Algarve.
