The village of Torrao is a very small settlement found in the Porto greater metropolitan area. It sits in the district of Santo Tirso, less than 20kms to the northeast of Porto's central business district. The township is conveniently positioned upon the N105 highway, which is just one kilometre from the A41 auto-estrada and just six kilometres from the A3 auto-estrada which heads directly into the city of Porto. Even though the highways are the best ways to get to the town from Porto, there is another option. Visitors can travel via the railway system to the town of Sampaio and then take a bus along the N105 highway to reach Torrao. There aren't any sites worth visiting within the town itself, but there are still some Torrao hotels located in the settlement. It is a quiet town in comparison to the nearby towns of Ernesinde and Alfena, but is only a very quick car ride from the centre of Porto and its magnificent attractions.
