Introduction to Portimao - Airport
Portimao Airport is a small airport located near the coastal Portuguese city of the same name. It consists of one runway and is a popular airport for parachuting. Although it does have IATA status, there are currently no scheduled flights operating out of the airport but there are plans to change this in the future. Many private aircrafts choose this airport as an alternative to the busier airport in Faro, as well it is closer to Portimao and the stunning Praia de Rocha beach that is one of the most popular in the area. The airport is also conveniently situated next to the famous championship Penina Golf Course. A number of Portimao Airport hotels can be found close by, many which are luxurious beachfront properties or are situated next to the golf course. Portimao is known for its fresh fish, and a trip to the city should be made to taste the famous grilled sardines that are so popular here.
