Introduction to Peniche, Portugal
The seaside city of Peniche is found on the western coastline of Portugal, in the Leiria district of the Centro region. There are more than 28,000 people living in the city, making it a moderately large settlement for the Portuguese coast. It has developed on the back of the fishing industry, which still continues strongly today. However, tourism has become an important feature for the city economy, with thousands of tourists flocking to the area annually.
